The fourth episode, titled "The Secret Line," of the Apple TV+ miniseries "Manhunt", was the most fictitious episode, and it quickly noted so many different historical events that it made this video the hardest of all of them to complete. This is not just a recap, but a complete deep dive into the various themes the episode briefly covered: The Manhattan Fire Plot, the Dahlgren Scandal, the Confederate yellow fever plot, the relationships of Edwin Booth/John Wilkes Booth, Mary Lincoln/Robert Lincoln, and more. I'm off to work on episode 5, which I'm hoping should be a lot easier as it largely focuses on the hunt.
Let me know in the comments what you think of this episode. If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them.
Author's note: While the miniseries is proving to be a great watch, I have to also recommend the book it's based on. "Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer" by James L. Swanson has been a favorite of mine since it came out. It reads like a murder mystery, and if you choose the Audible version, I prefer the version read by Richard Thomas.
